Lying on the Chesapeake Bay, Anne Arundel County is home to a vast coastline measuring many miles. Many tidal creeks and rivers indent these shores, and water sports, fishing, and relaxation are wonderful ways to pass the time here. Nature lovers can make the most of numerous parks and greenways in the area which provide hiking trails, fitness camps, fine arts, and other fun activities.

The county seat and state capital is Annapolis. This city is steeped in history that includes a very wealthy and cultural society during colonial and revolutionary days. Many original houses still stand from the period, with the State House being the oldest of its kind in the country. In fact, Annapolis claims to have more 18th Century buildings than any other U.S. city. This lends the place its charming soul and offers many cultural and recreational outlets. The large city of Baltimore is very close, lying directly north of Anne Arundel and providing amenities outside of Annapolis. Washington, D.C. is also only a short drive from anywhere in the county. The opposite side of the Bay is easily accessible by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, allowing this central county to be close to everything a person could need or want.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools provide Grade K-12 students with a solid educational base, and the Anne Arundel Community College takes care of higher education at its various branches throughout the county. Also available for undergraduates is St. John’s College, not to mention the close proximity of the University of Maryland.

The quality of life offered by Anne Arundel County can only be termed superior. Since it houses the state capital and is close to Washington, D.C., the Anne Arundel County is a fabulous place to settle down.
